The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim is currently undergoing investigation over reports of a 297-bed hotel he allegedly built within the short period of 2-years in office, according to reports.
According to a senior official of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), this new piece of information does not sit well on President Goodluck Jonathan and has thus affected the long standing relationship between Ayim and the President. This rift was noticed during the just concluded PDP rally in Enugu.
One of the PDP officials said: “Anyim was not allowed to speak and he looked weather-beaten and isolated.
“He was relegated to the background. It was obvious to everybody that he has fallen out of reckoning.”
Another allegation leveled against the former Senate President was the issue of his abuse of power by awarding lucrative contracts to his family members as he occupies a very crucial position which oversees the operations of top agencies like, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Authority (NIMASA).
However an Associate of the SGF has debunked this allegations saying: “The allegation is baseless because nothing has been traced to the former senate president.
“Nobody can say money is missing or that Anyim has stolen anything.
“The allegation of corruption has been invented, some politicians eyeing the SGF position are behind the allegation.
“Anyim will be here till May 2015. Tell them to wait for their time.”
