I read the statement of Atiku on the senator that beat the woman in Abuja and I saw the words of an ELDER and STATESMAN.
He never denied knowing the guy but he was also UNEQUIVOCAL in condemning the act and asking the guy to make a restitution. He also asked the law to take its course and also asked the party to sanction the Senator.
That is leadership.
But it is deeper than that.
The guy is PDP senator but I must confess that PDP Facebook foot soldiers have really impressed me. None of them has claimed that the video was doctored. They were unanimous on condemning the despicable act. If any one of them had defended him, not on my list.
Flashback to early this year.
From forensic analysis, the Ganduje video was NOT doctored. It was as real as daylight. Yet, many of those who were hailing Buhari’s anti-corruption scam on Facebook were all over the place defending Ganduje. In fact, someone in Ekiti, who knew nothing about the issue at stake was defending Ganduje. Why? All because it would put a lie on Buhari’s avowed anti-corruption posture.
What of the ruling APC? It absolved Ganduje and handed him the party’s ticket. And guess what? Buhari himself went there to present the flag to a man who the world could see was a thief!
What most APC/Buhari supporters could not differentiate is the interest of NIGERIA and that of BUHARI/APC.
What Atiku’s position on Senator Abbo has done is to put the APC on a moral tight corner.
Let them grab the mic…
