As a result of the various challenges in the North-East part of the country which had led to the displacement of over 2 million persons, the Senate had on Tuesday, October 29, 2014, agreed to donate N20 million for their rehabilitation.
The Senate in plenary, which deliberated on the issue brought under matter of urgent national importance by Deputy Majority Leader, Senator Abdul Ningi, also urged the Federal Government to involve the international community in the provision of relief materials for the internally displaced persons.
In line with the development, the senate appealed to federal and state governments to put in extra efforts geared towards the rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons in the northern states and nearby countries like Niger and Cameroon, by ensuring that more relief materials are made available for them.
