The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 confirmed the appointment of new military service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Buhari had on Monday, July 13, 2015 appointed Maj-Gen. Abayomi Olonishakin as Chief of Defence Staff; Maj-Gen. Tukur Buratai as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas as Chief of Naval Staff; Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff and Air Vice-Marshal Monday Morgan as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
Also appointed was retired Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno as National Security Adviser.
Their appointments were confirmed after hours of screening.
After their screening, Senate President, Bukola Saraki urge the new service chiefs to tackle Boko Haram insurgents and oil theft.
