The city of Uyo in her beautiful conservative pleasure is set for another historical and structural endowment as a new chapter in the history of sports in Nigeria.
On Friday, November 7, 2014 the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio, will be commissioning another landmark structure as the people of Akwa Ibom State will be opening the Akwa Ibom International Stadium named the Nest of Champions.
The amazing sporting structure is an Olympic Sized stadium with 30,000 capacity ultra-modern complex which has been audited and scored as the best in the West African region.
The stadium, being designed after the Bayern Munich home stadium, Allianz Arena, comprise a 4 –tier feature of a world class arrangement , covered, seating terrace, all-natural grass, high-tech floodlights and security cameras, 36 emergency exits, bullet proof VVIP and VIP along with other ultra-modern facilities.
The stadium is set to open with a friendly match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 3pm.
