In his hay days, Ernest Asuzu used to be a bad boy in the Nollywood movie scene and this dates as far back as the 90s. But the hot headed critically acclaimed Rituals star is now but a shadow of his former self.
The actor is reportedly going through a lot of tough times at the moment having suffered a stroke a few months ago and is currently limping. The actor who was seen at Shoprite in Surulere on Sunday, May 24, 2015 was reported to have looked a terrible sight.
Before his ill health, Mr. Asuzu had featured in movies such as Another Campus Queen, Royal War, Last Wedding, Formidable Force, My Guy, Ogidan, and Death Warrant to mention a few.
According to the Daily Independent, Ernest Asuzu was seen dressed in a Manchester United jersey, blue jean trousers and bathroom slippers and was literally begging from shoppers in order to eat. The actor blamed the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Ibinabo Fiberesima and some of his colleagues who were wll aware of his condition but haven’t done anything to help.
The actor in an earlier interview had accused the AGN president of nonchalance stating that;
“I was in LASUTH for two months, three days and for that long, nobody from Nollywood, not even Ibinabo, visited me. And she heard that I was admitted there. My friends told her that I was down with stroke and she pretended as if she didn’t hear. It’s not fair. I’m a human being too.
“I am limping right now, because I have stroke. I am limping because my people don’t care. I’m limping because the industry is already messed up. I don’t know what Ibinabo is doing. Ibinabo is just gallivanting. She is having fun and that is not the reason we put her there. She should go out there and fight for our people.”
Mr. Asuzu said that he now depends on well meaning Nigerians for survival.
