Donald Trump has been sacked as Global Ambassador for Scotland and an honorary degree revoked following his comments about Muslims.
The US presidential candidate was stripped of his role as a GlobalScot by Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon after he called for a ‘total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the U.S.
Meanwhile, Robert Gordon University revoked his honorary degree over comments that are ‘wholly incompatible with the ethos and values of the university.’
Trump’s mother was Scottish and is investing £274million into a golf and leisure development in Aberdeenshire.
Elsewhere in the UK a petition to the UK government has been inundated with almost 400,000 people calling for Trump to be barred from entering the country.
The Scottish government said: ‘Mr Trump’s recent remarks have shown that he is no longer fit to be a business ambassador for Scotland and the First Minister has decided his membership of the respected GlobalScot business network should be withdrawn with immediate effect.’
