The Ijebu Ode town in Ogun State was awash with sorrow on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 when unknown assailants attcked and killed the 82-year-old Iyaloja of Ijebuland, Alhaja Sadia Elewuju at her home in Ijebu Ode.
Reports by DAILY POST claim that the armed men were six in number and attacked the Iyaloja at about 3:00pm and began cutting her recklessly with machetes. She subsequently gave up the ghost when she was being rushed to the hospital.
Describing the deceased, a source said that due to her position, she was very vocal about a lot of issues and that she was also influential.
“She is always very vocal and fierce in her position on any matter. She has championed many causes for women, especially market women.
“She’s very popular in political circles. The house she lived in was given to her by the former Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel,” the source added.
