It was further gathered that the late lecturer was an older brother of the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi.

Narrating how his dad was killed, one of Adejobi’s children said, “We finished our evening prayer at 10.05pm when dad drove into the compound. Then I overheard an argument between the gateman and some people. I looked from the window and I saw another black car that entered our compound with dad’s car.

“Our gateman was asking the occupants of the other car about their mission, but they hit him and ordered him to lie down.

“The men in the black car stepped out of their car before dad could alight from his and one of them shot into the air. Two of them moved to dad’s car, while others came inside the house.”

Pleas by the deceased mum to the assailants to spare the victim fell on deaf ears as they went ahead to rain bullets on him.

The bereaved daughter of the don said the gunmen took his car while he pleaded with them to spare him.

“We thought they took him away and we started praying for his safety without knowing that he had been killed,” she said.

Her dad’s lifeless remains was later discovered by the police team who arrived the house later.

Efforts by Punch to know if the police were aware of the case were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, dropped the call as soon as she was asked about the incident.

Confirming the tragedy, the the Public Relations Officer of the OAU, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, said, “We are shocked to hear that he was killed. We just pray God will give the family the fortitude to bear the loss. It is terrible.”

In addition, the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, OAU branch, Dr. Caleb Aborisade, said, “The initial information was that he was kidnapped. But when we got to his house this morning, his death was confirmed.”
