The entire household of the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole was bereaved on Wednesday, October 01, 2014 when they lost their 6-year old daughter Yewande to the cold hands of death.
It was learnt that Yewande gave up at St. Marys Children’s Hospital, London. The family divulged this in Abeokuta to journalists in a statement on Thursday, October 02 2014, in Abeokuta.
Part of the statement reads, “With gratitude to Almighty Allah and with heavy hearts, we announce the demise of our daughter Yewande Semiat Bankole aged 6 years at St Marys Children’s hospital, London on October 1,2014.”
Futhermore, it was revealed that the late Yewande was born with HbSS Sickle cell disease which probably led to her death.
It added, “She was a radiant girl who struggled with the disease and her condition was originally managed at a Lagos hospital but she was later transferred to a London hospital where she eventually died.”
Punch reports that her remains would be buried according to Islamic rites.
Meanwhile, the Bankole family appealed for support by all and sundry through prayers during this trying times for their family.
