ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, emphasized their commitment to road safety, denying reports suggesting that the agency prioritizes revenue generation over the well-being of motorists and road users in Nigeria.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Friday, May 5, 2023, Corps Public Education Officer, CPEO, Bisi Kazeem clarified the FRSC’s primary mission, stating, “Our mandate is clear, and it is to eradicate Road Traffic Crashes, RTCs, and create a safer motoring environment in Nigeria.”
Recently, there have been allegations that the FRSC has been more focused on revenue generation rather than ensuring the safety of motorists and road users across the country. Kazeem vehemently refuted these claims, reiterating the agency’s dedication to the security of lives and properties.
“We are an agency of the government and the primary purpose of existence of any government all over the world and from time immemorial is the security of lives and properties. And that is exactly what we are helping the government to achieve. We are not a revenue generating agency,” Kazeem said.
The FRSC spokesperson urged the motoring public to continue registering their vehicles properly, emphasizing that such compliance enhances the security of the vehicles and contributes to a safer driving environment.
