Feelers from Rivers State have it that the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been engulfed in a mystery fire.
Daily Times reports that the fire was started in the early hours of Friday, October 31, 2014 by unknown person who had succeeded in tying the security personnel on duty.
Jerry Needam, special adviser on media to the chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Mr. Jerry Needam confirmed the incident , adding that the prompt arrival of the fire service stopped the fire from reaching epic proportions.
Speaking on the incident, Felix Obuah, the Rivers State PDP chairman said: “An attempt to burn the party secretariat has being carried out by desperate politicians who want the party to postpone the party’s ward and local Government Congresses scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday. They have failed because arrangements have concluded and we are going ahead. Nobody can stop it. PDP will come tops. We have been watching on news of some desperate politicians threatening the party.”
