Must read

Rivers State’s Attorney General, Emma Aguma, said claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state that there was a ruling that favoured the sacked Local Council Chairmen is false.

Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the attorney general revealed that he waited till Monday, July 13, 2015 night to get a certified true copy of court proceedings, stressing that the document had no mention or reference to the matter reinstating the sacked local government chairmen.

Emma Aguma’s declaration follows to the rumour of an order from the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Yenogoa, on Monday, July 13, 2015 calling for the reinstatement of the sacked Council Chairmen in the state.

In an interview with Channel Television,  the Head of the Legal Team of Rivers State APC, Henry Odili, responded by stating that Aguma was only trying to be clever by half.

Odili noted that the Attorney General did not reveal to the public, the actions that led to the final submission of the trial judge.

He further stated that the court refused to grant the prayers of the defendants to vacate its earlier order that restrained Governor Nyesom Wike and his agents from sacking the council chairmen.

He stressed that the APC strongly believed that “the order still stands”, demanding that the Chairmen should be reinstated.
