The Rivers State House of Assembly has committed the 2022 budget proposal of over four hundred and eighty three billion naira to the appropriation committee of the House.
This follows a debate by lawmakers over the appropriation bill.
Ikuiyi Owaji-Ibani, the speaker of the house, while commenting on the budget, urged the committee to invite Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government to defend their allocations.
The committee was given one week to submit its report to the House.
The speakers said, “The appropriation committee should ensure that they work with other standing committees to ensure that the report is submitted to the house by Tuesday next week.
“The various standing committees should be able to carry out their budget defense in a manner that the civil society should also partake in the process.”
Recall that Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike, had presented a total budget of 483, 173, 307, 96 naira last week Friday to the House.
