#RIP: ‘Oldest Pupil In Nigeria’ Dies At 94 (PICTURED)

A 94-year-old male student identified as Mohammud Modibbo, who was believed to be the oldest pupil in Nigeria has passed on.

Although there is no official confirmation to back up the claims, but according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the oldest person ever to have enrolled at primary school, was a Kenyan man, Kimani Maruge at the age of 84.

Modibbo was unable to obtain western education as a child because he worked as a trader, and was bust trotting the country.

It was gathered that he decided to enroll into the primary school in his mid-80s and had recently begun secondary school in Kano State.

Speaking on BBC Hausa, his teacher, Abdulkarim Ibrahim, described Late Modibbo as “easy-going and jovial”.

Mr Ibrahim  said: “During classes, he was very attentive and asked questions when he didn’t understand – either asking the teacher or a student sitting beside him.”

His teacher further disclosed that Modibbo’s hoped to further his education to the university level but the dream has been hampered by death.
