A 60-year old former assistant superintendent of police, Sunday Isokpehi on Saturday, September 20, 2014 shot his 40 year old wife, Gladys to death before turning the gun on himself.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun state police public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the police will leave no stone unturned to unravel circumstances leading to the shooting, including whether the double-barreled gun used for the crime was legally obtained.
Isokpehi reportedly shot his wife to death after he returned to their Otta home and accused her of drunkenness, and then killed himself shortly afterwards.
Adejobi said: “We are still investigating the immediate and remote causes of the tragic incident. We will find out whether the man was depressed or was under any influence, because a normal human being will not open fire on his wife and then kill himself. We will investigate how he got the double-barrelled gun he used to commit the dastardly act.”
Isokpehi retired from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad Unit, Lagos Police Command in March 2014.
