Reno Omokri, a former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, has waded into the controversy surrounding a curiously questionable photo shared by Aisha Buhari showing her standing beside Michelle Obama, the first lady of the United States.
Aisha Buhari, Nigeria’s first lady, shared a photo saying she took the photo with Mrs. Obama at an event to power girls on the sidelines of the United National General Assembly. The photo has come under intense scrutiny because of a number of reasons.
Omokri, known for defending the first lady and using scriptures to defend his position, posted a social media update, saying the photo is authentic but provided no evidence or failed to satisfactorily deal with the issues raised by several Nigerians on social media.
He went on to say he prays for Muhammadu Buhari, a military dictator responsible for the killing of innocent, unamed pro-Biafra protesters and about a thousand Shi’ites. He also said that Buhari was “the Lord’s anointed” for the moment.
Omokri was not at the event in question and did not witness when the photo was taken. Neither has his intervention, prevent the rumours of a photoshopped Aisha Buhari and Michelle Obama image spreading.
Here is what Omokri wrote on Twitter and Facebook.
The allegations that @aishambuhari photoshopped her picture with @FLOTUS is false. Even if you don't like @mbuhari, dont take it out on her.

“The allegation that Aisha Buhari photoshopped her picture with Michelle Obama is false. Even if you don’t like President Buhari, don’t take it out on his wife or family.
I’ve been at these functions. People line up to take pictures with the alpha who maintains the same pose. I don’t like President Muhammadu Buhari. I don’t believe him. I will never ever vote for him. Yet, I mention him by name everyday in prayer. Not some days. EVERYDAY.
I do this because I fear God. I will criticize him. But if I do criticize him, it will be because of something he is guilty of not due to something he and his wife are innocent of. Whether you like it or not, Buhari is the Lord’s anointed, for now.
If you are going to move against the Lord’s anointed, better have truth on your side or you end up like Rechab and Baanah!”
