Rotimi Obajimi, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God who was kidnapped 10 months ago by Islamist terror group, Boko Haram escaped captivity in Borno on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
A news story by Sahara Reports says that Pastor Rotimi Obajimi, who served as a pastor in the rural area of Borno/Yobe province, was on his to Maiduguri on January 6, 2014, when Boko Haram militants abducted him.
A fellow Redeemed Church pastor who spoke with Sahara Reporters in Maiduguri says that church was surprised to receive Obajimi back home.
“We were so amazed to see him because we have been praying earnestly for long time trusting Jesus that he would surely come back but lo and behold he was brought to our headquarters in Maiduguri by the military,” the unnamed pastor said.
Obajimi recounted his ordeal to colleagues. He said that when he was abducted, he was first taken to the notorious Sambisa Forest and tied up for months. After which he was taken to an unknown destination and later returned to Sambisa Forest. He said that heavy rains created an opening for his escape from the terrorist camp in Sambisa.
According to reports, the heavy rains flooded the camps of the terrorists in Sambisa Forest and terrorists fled leaving their captors unguarded and free to leave. When Obajimi escaped, he wandered in the forest for days before he arrived in a village and was picked up by Nigerian troops.
Military officials debriefed Obajimi and later moved him to Maimallari Hospital, according to a military source.
