Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded a record fourth Golden Boot for being Europe’s top goalscorer in the 2014/2015 season.
The Portuguese scored 48 goals in 35 La Liga games for Real Madrid. This is the 30-year-old’s third Golden boot as a Real Madrid player after he won his first while at Manchester United for the 2007/2008 season. He also makes history by becoming the first ever player to win the European Golden boot four times.
Ronaldo was in company of his mother, his son, Real Madrid coach Rafa Benitez, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and the Portuguese ambassador to Spain as he received the Golden boot.
“I never planned on winning four times. Maybe one or two yes but never four.
“I always want more. I know I am the only one to have four but I want more.
“That implies winning trophies with the world’s greatest club. This year will be no different and we want to win La Liga, the Cup and the Champions League. I hope we see each other again next year,” an excited Ronaldo said.
In September 2015, Ronaldo overtook Raúl Gonzalez to become Real Madrid’s highest goal scorer of all time after netting his 324th goals for the club.
