A 23-year-old mother had gone out for a party leaving behind her two children aged eight-day-old and two-years-old alone in her apartment in Thokoza, South Africa, WorldWide Weird News reports.
While they were home alone, some rats feasted on the unfortunate female baby’s mouth, ears and hands.
It was learnt that the baby’s father had abandoned the woman which placed her under serious emotional stress which she wanted to relieve by attending the party.
One of the neighbours of the unidentified mother disclosed that it was not the first time she was leaving the children behind alone for a party where she usually took much drinks.
The unidentified neighbour said, “She was drinking non stop. When I asked about her children, she told me to leave her alone.
“I always warned her not to leave her children, but she would not listen.”
After the party, the woman returned home and heard her baby crying after the attack from the rats while she was away.
Consequently, she called an ambulance to convey the baby to the hospital.
Constable Patrick Mashiane said that the woman was arrested for child neglect and the baby girl was taken to the Natalspruit Hospital in Vosloorus.
