Rapper Lil Kim, age 39, has given birth to her daughter at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. The baby girl was reportedly born at 9:58 am on June 9, weighs 6 pounds 5 ounces, and measures 19.5 inches long. She has chosen a unique name for the little girl: Royal Reign.
This is Lil Kim’s first child and the second child for the father, New York-based rapper Mr. Papers. The two are not married, but Mr. Papers has expressed interest in wanting to marry Lil Kim. She originally announced her pregnancy in February when she unveiled her baby bump at a Fashion Week performance at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City. Mr. Papers came forward as the father shortly after.
The baby’s unique name may not come as a surprise to some as Lil Kim has been using the moniker “Queen” since the 90s. Lil Kim’s lavish baby shower also had what she referred to as “a royal twist.” Lil Kim reported that she “was announced as The Queen with two trumpeters and (she) even wore a crown.” She also wore an ornate lace dress along with $500,000 worth of diamond jewelry.
Lil Kim is the only female rapper other than Missy Elliott to have at least three of her albums go platinum. Her songs “No Time,” “Big Momma Thang,” and “Ladies Night” have all been named to Complex Magazine’s 50 Best Rap Songs By Women list. She also has five songs on VH1′s “The 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs.” Lil Kim has sold over 11 million albums worldwide, and Billboard has listed her as one of the “31 Female Rappers Who Changed Hip-Hop.” Lil Kim can now add motherhood to her list of accomplishments, and even as she approaches 40, she shows no signs of slowing down,
