A quack nurse has been arrested over the death of an 18-year-old girl, Omolayo Afolabi, who she allegedly helped to terminate a two-month pregnancy in Iju/Itaogbolu area Ondo State.
The nurse, Favour Adebiyi was arrested alongside the deceased’s lover, Joseph Endurance, said to have been responsible for the pregnancy.
The deceased reportedly approached Adebiyi, whom she got to know through one of her friends, and informed her to help them terminate the pregnancy since her boyfriend was too young to father a child.
It was learnt that the drugs given the deceased by Adebiyi, led to her untimely death after she took them at night. The deceased reportedly did not seek medical attention when complications arose, until the pain became unbearable, resulting in her death.
The case was subsequently reported to the Police by a member of her family.
The Police spokesman, Wole Ogodo, reportedly confirmed that the quack nurse and the boyfriend of the 18-year-old deceased are being detained and are currently undergoing interrogation.
He noted that the quack nurse had confessed to the crime, adding that they have been transferred to the CID division of the command for further questioning.
