The recent publication by RichestLifestyle.com which features the list of Africa’s richest President and has generated national controversy in Nigeria, has compelled the publisher to retrieve his information after a critical and in-depth research.
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was placed on the sixth position on the list with the net worth of $100 million. The presidency in turn reacted to the unfounded claim and asked that the list be revisited to avoid a legal action against the outfit.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 the Presidency described the report was false, unacceptable and totally unwarranted.
A latter check on the website however revealed that the list has been amended as President Goodluck Jonathan’s name is now out of the list.
The publisher stated that the detail was removed as the net worth was evaluated by celebrity net worth.
Special adviser to the President on media and publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, however said in a public statement that the report was malicious and unfounded as the President has never been involved in any private business since he assumes political office in 1999.
He further suggested that the inclusion of President Jonathan in the publication is another attempt to unjustifiably portray the President as a corrupt leader and incite public disaffection against his good will.
