Pro-Biafra protesters on Thursday, November 12, 2015 shut down commercial activities in Owerri, the Imo State capital as they marched through the streets of the state demanding the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of secessionist Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Asides Kanu’s release, the protesters are also calling for the division of the country to allow for the formation of Biafra.
According to eye witness reports, the protesters marched peacefully chanting solidarity songs while security operatives were on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
The protest is part of a growing number of such marches which have been recorded in Delta, Rivers, Abia, Enugu and Anambra States.
