LAGOS, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, instructed the Department of State Security Service, DSS, to immediately withdraw from the premises of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The presidential order followed reports that DSS officials had besieged the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, blocking the anti-graft agency’s officials from accessing their workplace.
The incident was quickly brought to the attention of the President, prompting his response.
“If there are issues between the two important agencies of government, they will be resolved amicably,” President Tinubu said in a statement issued from the State House on Tuesday evening.
This order serves as a direct response to the impasse at the EFCC office, and an affirmation of the President’s commitment to ensuring that all agencies of government work in harmony towards the shared goal of national progress.
