ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria hosted his Ghanaian counterpart, John Mahama, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
This marks the second meeting between the two leaders since Mahama assumed office as Ghana’s president in December 2024.
The two leaders had previously met on December 17, 2024, when Mahama visited Abuja following a congratulatory messa
ge from President Tinubu after Mahama’s victory in Ghana’s December 7 general election.Mahama, who served as Ghana’s president from 2012 to 2016, won the 2024 elections with 56.55 percent of the vote, defeating Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, the candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 41.6 percent.
The discussions between Tinubu and Mahama on Thursday were believed to focus on further strengthening the diplomatic ties between Ghana and Nigeria, two of the most influential countries in West Africa.
The meeting highlights both leaders’ commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, cooperation, and shared economic interests.
