President Tinubu Calls for Collaboration and Dedication from Newly Appointed Ministers

ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu has emphasized unity and collaboration among the newly appointed ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He emphasized that their roles transcend beyond states, colonies, or regions; they serve the entire nation.

The president made this call on Monday,  August 21, 2023, during the inauguration of 45 ministers-designate at the State House, Abuja, stressing the weight of their roles and the expectations of Nigerians.

“We are in this journey together. The entire nation looks to us, as we drive this governance vehicle forward. We owe it to Nigerians to work hand-in-hand, meeting their expectations,” President Tinubu stated.

In his passionate speech, President Tinubu described the role of a minister as a high honor.

He reinforced the importance of teamwork, delivery, accountability, and transparency.

The president was clear in his charge: the ministers must serve with integrity and dignity, making their service worthy in God’s and Nigerians’ eyes.

“As the nation bestows upon you this honor, your work begins now. You must rise to the occasion and deliver, for that is the expectation of every Nigerian. I will hold you to this,” the president remarked.

The inauguration swiftly followed the president’s release and review of portfolios for the appointees.

Prominent among the appointees are Nyesom Wike, former Rivers State governor, now Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT); Wale Edun, overseeing Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; and Festus Keyamo, who takes the helm at Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Other noteworthy ministers include Adegboyega Oyetola for Marine and Blue Economy; David Umahi at Works; Betta Edu for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; and Bosun Tijani, leading Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

As the new ministers assume their roles, Nigerians are hopeful for positive change, development, and growth across all sectors of the country.

Only time will tell if this new cabinet will live up to the high expectations set before them.
