The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan has defeated his closest rival, General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential election in Rivers State.
Announcing the results, the returning officer for the state, Professor John Ovwata Etu-Efeotor gave the figures as follows:
Registered voters- 2,324,300
Total number of accredited voters: 1,643,409
Total valid votes: 1,555,462
Rejected votes: 19,306
