Mazi Isiguzoro, the National President of the Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Youth Council has commended incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat in the presidential elections of Saturday, March 28, 2015.
Isiguzoro noted that the president through his action, saved the nation from looming bloodbath and violence which would have broken out if he did otherwise.
He made this disclosure in Umuahia on Friday, April 3, 2015 in an interview where he said that some retrogressive elements had prepared to unleash mayhem on the country had the presidential election result gone the other way round.
He commended the president for upholding the tenets of true democracy and promoting peace and unity in the nation, adding that other politicians should follow his foot prints.
Isiguzoro also pledged a continued support of Igbo youths to the president notwithstanding the unfavourable outcome of the poll.
He said, “We have no regret for supporting him and his rare sacrifice for the survival of Nigeria’s democracy shall ever be appreciated.”
In the same vein, the youth leader called on the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, not to marginalize any citizen or part of the country based on sentiments for the political parties they belong to adding that he should take the entire constituencies as his during his administration.
He also advised the in-coming administration to focus more on things that would promote peace and “deepen our evolving democracy.”
