President Goodluck Jonathan had on Tuesday, March 2, 2015 received commendations from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the verdict of the court of appeal which proved him eligible to go ahead with the contest for the presidential post in the forthcoming general elections billed for March 28.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh disclosed through a statement that the ruling of the court is a major step towards President Jonathan’s expected success in the elections.
According to the statement, the court’s ruling was a “victory for democracy and the rule of law especially in protecting the inalienable rights of eligible citizens to freely participate in the electoral process without any form of hindrance.”
They added that the development has helped to enrich the judiciary and further deepened the nation’s democratic evolution since inception.
According to Vanguard, the party also applauded President Jonathan for always remaining focused and upholding democratic principles, which enable Nigerians to operate in an environment that allows for full expression of fundamental rights.
Furthermore, PDP urged their supporters nationwide to ensure they do their possible best to make the president and other candidates under their platform scale through the elections victoriously.
They also commended the judiciary for its stabilizing role in the polity for democracy.
