President Goodluck Jonathan and his entourage escaped death as the Presidential jet developed a fault in Minna, Niger state on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
President Jonathan and his entourage including Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, PDP Trustees Board chairman, Tony Anenih, Sokoto governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, had boarded the jet in Minna headed to Sokoto but unfortunately couldn’t take off.
After attempts to get the jet work properly failed, Armed security officials surrounded the plane and the the dignitaries disembarked.
According to reports, the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria said the fault was as a result of the return engine not coming on.
The commander of the Presidential Air Fleet, Air Vice Marshal Uko Ebong, arranged for a smaller Presidential jet, which flew Vice-President Namadi Sambo to Minna, to convey the President to Sokoto.
