President Jonathan, General Buhari To Face Off In Presidential Debate On February 5

The Nigeria Election Debate Group (NDEG) has announced that the 2015 presidential debate shall hold between Wednesday. January 28 and Thursday, February 5, 2015.
Making the revelation at a parley with newsmen, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NDEG, Sola Omole disclosed that the campaign directors of the 14 presidential aspirants will begin the debates on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, explaining that the Vice-Presidential candidates will have their debates on Thursday, January 29, 2015, with the Presidential aspirants taking the floor on the grand finale to be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015.
Omole, who is the director -general of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) stressed that the debates were very necessary for the entrenchment of democracy in the country.
He said: “We believe that debates are very important components of the democratic process aimed at giving the candidates the opportunity to speak directly to Nigerians.
“We want the Nigerian community to get used to the business of debating issues and we feel that this is a very strong part of building that culture.
“We have met with all the political parties, those we couldn’t meet directly, we contacted their senior officials and they are very supportive of the initiative.”
