President Jonathan Appoints New Supreme Court Judge

The President of Nigeria, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Tuesday, May 11, 2015 approved the swearing in of a new Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Aminu Sanusi, following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).

Mr. Soji Oye, the Acting Director of Information the the National Judicial Council mentioned this in a terse statement saying that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, would be handling the swear in on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Supreme Court complex.

This in turn brings the total number of Supreme Court judges to 18.

The National Judicial Council statement read, “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, has approved the appointment of Hon. Justic Aminu Sanusi, oFR as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council.

“Hon. Justice Aminu Sanusi, OFR will be sworn in by the Honuorable, the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice Mahmud Mohammed, GCON, on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11 am in the Supreme Court Complex,” the statement said.
