The newly sworn in president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has condemned the Boko Haram bomb attack that took place in Maiduguri, Borno State on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
In a statement signed by the President’s media aide, Garba Shehu, President Buhari extended his heartfelt condolence to the families of those whose lives were claimed in the attack, while also reaffirming his stand that his administration “will not tolerate wanton and willful destruction of life by criminal elements that are bent on anarchy.”
The President further described the Boko Haram sect as “cowardly murderers that target innocent people.” He also vowed to use every available resource to fight the sect to a stand still and also to effectively fund the Nigerian army and attend to their welfare.
The President urged communities to continue organising their local vigilante groups.
