A 22-year-old pregnant woman has been attacked with a baseball bat and knife by a gang of five assailants while she was leaving her house for a hospital during labour.
Her 32-year-old partner was upstairs preparing stuffs for the hospital when the incident happened in Basildon, Essex, London.
She was hit with the baseball bat and slashed with the knife despite saying she was in labour, Metro UK reports.
Well enough, she gave birth to a healthy baby.
Her partner said, ‘I can’t even describe to you how angry I am. My partner is too traumatised to even go back to our home.
‘She is going to need counselling to help her get through this. To do this to a woman who is in labour – it’s sick.
‘She started screaming my name and I just heard these men shouting something like, “Where’s the money? Give us the money!”
‘I came running down the stairs and they were attacking her. I just threw my arms round her to protect her. They carried on beating us.
‘I was just shouting back at them, “You are wrong man, she’s in labour.” Me and my girlfriend just started screaming and shouting for help.’
The hoodlums carted away with a mobile phone, an iPad and £60 in cash.
Detective Inspector Joel Henderson said, ‘This was a shocking attack on a young woman who was in labour.
‘It is vital we get those people responsible off the streets of Basildon.’
