President Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to Nigerians to pray for the defeat of the Islamic militant group, Boko Haram. Jonathan made the appeal in a message he sent to the ongoing Catholic Bishops’ conference in Warri, Delta State on Monday, September 15, 2014, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
In a message delivered by Delta State’s Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, the President also solicited the cooperation of Nigerians in the fight to end all forms of insurgency in the country. He said that though government has intensified the fight against terrorism, it still required the continued cooperation and prayers of all Nigerians.
“I need the cooperation of the entire country in the fight against Boko Haram. In doing this Nigerians should also pray for the defeat of Boko Haram,” he said.
The President also assured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment towards conducting free and fair polls in 2015.
