Since the presidential elections were concluded, results collated and the winner announced, President Goodluck Jonathan has shown tremendous support for the winner of the elections, Gen Muhammadu Buhari. In a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Media Adviser to the President, Reuben Abati, on Monday, April 27, 2015, he said that the President is praying for Buhari’s administration to achieve.
He also said that the Federal Government are not abandoning any ongoing projects because the president lost his re-election bid. He went ahead to post a short video of the ongoing work at the site of the Second Niger Bridge to buttress his point.
He thanked Nigerians on behalf of the President for giving him the chance to serve them.
“From Lagos-Ibadan Road to Abuja-Kaduna Railways and Kashimbilla Dam, both which are set for commissioning. We are still working for you. President Jonathan prays for the incoming administration led by General Buhari to achieve even as we hope that this transformation continues. We thank you for letting us serve you!” he said.
Abati quoted the president as assuring the nation that “service and necessary sacrifices will be his (Jonathan’s) lifelong commitment to Nigeria in whatever capacity”.
