OSOGBO, Nigeria — The Osun State High Court has sentenced Raheem Adedoyin, the Chairman of Hilton Hotels in Ile-Ife, and two hotel employees, Adeniyi Aderogba and Kazeem Oyetunde, to death by hanging for the murder of Timothy Adegoke.
In November 2021, Adegoke, a postgraduate student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, was found dead at Hilton Hotels, sparking widespread outcry.
Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo, delivered the verdict on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Three other hotel employees, Magdalene Chiefuna, Lawrence Oluwole, and Adedeji Adesola, were acquitted by the court, while the seventh defendant’s sentencing is set to take place on Wednesday.
The court decided to postpone the seventh defendant’s sentencing due to appeals from both the prosecution and defense counsels.
The defendants were initially charged on an 18-count indictment that included murder, conspiracy, and secrecy oath.
The ruling was delivered amidst heightened security at the Osun State High Court.
