The Pope held the passenger aboard the plane more spellbound and somewhat confused when he jokingly made reference to his trip organizer, Alberto Gasparri, by saying he would definitely punch him if he dared insult his mother.
He said, “There are so many people who speak badly about religions, who make fun of them, who make a game out of the religions of others. They are provocateurs.’
‘If my good friend Dr Gasparri says a curse word against my mother, then a punch awaits him. It’s normal. One cannot provoke. One cannot insult the faith of others. One cannot make fun of faith.’
Quite the opposite according to Associated Press, Pope Francis said such horrific violence in God’s name couldn’t be justified and was an “aberration.” But he said a reaction of some sort was to be expected.
