Emeka Ugwuonye, a lawyer and human rights activist, shared on Facebook a conversation he had with a woman, identified as a 25-year-old businesswoman from Anambra, who was beaten up and threatened by people who lost money in a Ponzi scheme that she founded.
In the conversation shared on his group, Due Process Advocates, Ugwuonye, it is revealed that victims of the ponzi scheme ganged up against the woman, threatened to get her raped, and attempted to rob her using her own debit at an ATM.
According to the woman, she was arrested by the anti-robbery unit, SARS, of the Anambra State Police Command and detained in Awka on the behest of the aggrieved “investors” in the failed ponzi scheme.
She was in detention when she reached out to the lawyer for help.
