Ahead of the Saturday, March 28, 2015 presidential elections, President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 ordered the closure of all land and sea borders.
Making the announcement known via a statement was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, who revealed that the borders will be closed from midnight Wednesday, March 25, 2015 until midnight Saturday, March 28, 2015.
Magaji further revealed that the Nigeria Immigration Services had been mandated to make sure non-Nigerians do not play any part in the forthcoming electoral process.
