Tragic: Man Dies After 31 People Squeeze Themselves Into Container

A man has died and 30 other people, including several children, have been rescued after being found crammed into a shipping container in Essex.

It has been reported that 19 of the people, seven of whom are children, found in the crate in Tilbury Docks were taken to nearby Basildon Hospital and treated for ‘significant health problems’.

The people were discovered early this morning as the tiny shipping container which came from Zeebrugge, Belgium was being unloaded in the docks.

Basildon Hospital warned people via Twitter that there may be delays are they are dealing with a ‘major incident’.

Essex police, who are launching an investigation into the incident, released a statement saying: ‘Thirty-one people, including adults and children of both genders, were found inside.

‘One man has sadly died and the others have significant health problems. They are being treated by ambulance crews and are being taken to local hospitals.’

A spokeswoman  for Basildon Hospital said: ‘Our initial priority is to assess the level and nature of any injuries, and ensure that those people in most need are treated first and taken to hospital.’
