The Nigerian Police in River state has said they have stopped an attempt by hoodlums to burn down a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, River state.
There were reports that a Federal High Court had witnessed two explosions in the early hours of Thursday, July 9, 2015.
However, reports from Premium Times reads that the were no explosions.
Spokesperson of the River state police command, Muhammed Ahmed, confimed to Premium Times that there was an unsuccessful attempt to raze the Federal High Court but that there was never an explosion.
Mr. Muhammed Ahmed refused to give details of the planned attempt but he stated that investigations are on-going.
Two cases brought before the court by a local government chairman on the platform of the APC in the state against the Rivers State government were supposed to be heard this morning.
However, the local government chairmen had said earlier on local radio stations today that they had withdrawn their case at the Federal High Court to enable them continue with same case at the Industrial Court, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
