Officers of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Thomas Arnold Pearce and Hendrik Gideon Smith, 2 South Africans who were kidnapped at a mining site in Maidaro Village on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
The two foreigners were reportedly taken to Birnin Gwari Forest in Kaduna State by their abductors.
They were rescued in the early hours of Sunday, January 28, 2018 as a result of pressure mounted on the kidnappers by the by a combined team of Policemen comprising operatives of the Intelligence Response Team IRT, Police Air Wing Helicopter patrol and Kaduna State Command Police.
The two men have been moved from Kaduna to Abuja for debriefed and handed over to the South African High Commission for medicals.
