A 34-year-old police officer, Omepa Dickson was on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 arraigned before a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Nasarawa State for biting off his neighbour’s finger.
Dickson, who resides at Kabayi, Mararaba was arraigned on a one count charge of causing grievous hurt, Daily Post reported.
The prosecutor, Cpl Friday Adaji, told the court how the victim, Adejo Simon who resides in the same place with Dickson, filed a report of the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police Station.
According to Adaji, the accused mocked the victim as he was heading towards the bathroom to take his bath around 8 am on Monday, June 29, 2015.
The prosecutor said, “The accused sat in front of his room mocking the complainant and calling him a fake police officer,
“When the complainant confronted him, it led to a fight and in the process the accused caused bodily injury to Simon by biting off his finger.”
The complainant was receiving medical attention in an undisclosed hospital.
The prosecutor observed that the offence was a breach of the dictates of Section 241 of the Penal Code.
Dickson however, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him.
The presiding Judge, Albert Maga, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case for further mention until Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
