Police Launch Investigation Into Yola Beach Party

Must read

The police in Adamawa State have launched an investigation into a beach party which was planned for Sunday, January 3, 2021.

Although the party was never held owing mainly to public outcry and warning by the police, the Adamawa State Police Command says it would fish out the sponsors for possible prosecution.

Suleiman Nguroje, the Police public relations officer in the state, said in a statement that the state Police Commissioner had ordered investigation into the matter.

“Anyone found involved will be arrested and possibly prosecuted,” Nguroje said.

He reiterated, “The Commissioner of Police has ordered investigation to unravel the sponsors and venue of the said beach party. The command will not allow any immoral activity that could cause public outrage.”

Notice for the Yola beach party had circulated on social media platforms, with invitation to adults on charge of a gate fee of N2,000 each.

Venue of the planned party was not stated, and it is difficult to speculate because Yola does not have a known beach facility despite having River Benue running through it.

The beach party idea came as a surprise to many residents as Adamawa is a deeply religious state with near equal numbers of Muslims and Christians.
