KAFANCHAN, Nigeria — A Police Inspector in Kaduna State, identified as Moses Paul, has been arrested for attempting to murder his fellow officer at Kafanchan, in the Jemaa Local Government Area of the state.
The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred on June 16, 2023, at the Police Mobile Force Base of Squadron 62 in Kafanchan.
According to the statement by the Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Muhammed Jalige, Inspector Moses Paul attempted to strangle his duty partner, Inspector Simnawa Paul, using a rope.
Jalige stated that Inspector Simnawa Paul was rescued by two other officers, who heard his cries and intervened.
“Preliminary inquiries revealed the primary motive was an attempt to cart away Inspector Simnawa Paul’s rifle, while the remote cause of action would be ascertained at the end of a full-scale investigation,” Jalige stated in the press release.
The statement further disclosed that if found culpable, Inspector Moses Paul will face both disciplinary action and legal proceedings for his actions.
