The police officials in Japan have apprehended a man after the body of a missing six-year old girl was discovered cut into pieces in some plastic bags in Kobe City near her home.
A police from Hyogo region told CNN that after a DNA test was carried out, the officials recognized the remains were those of first-grade student Mirei Ikuta, missing since September 11.
It was learnt also that the last time Ikuta was seen was on September 11 before she left to see one of her friends.
It was during a police search in a bush near the girl’s residence on Tuesday afternoon that they discovered the body.
However, on Wednesday afternoon, the Police said a 47-year-old local man, Yasuhiro Kimino, was arrested in relation to the disposal of the body.
According to a local media report, the man’s hospital ID card had been found in the bags.
Japanese news agency Kyodo quoted an investigation source as saying the bags, one containing the victim’s head and another the victim’s hand, was found in central Japan about 100 meters from her family residence.
