JADA, Nigeria – The Adamawa State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against violent crimes with the arrest of two suspects linked to the brutal murder of a 10-year-old Almajiri boy in Jada Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Sunday, March 16, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that operatives attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Jada apprehended Ibrahim Abdul Malik, 27, and Aliyu Abdul Malik, 18, both residents of Anguwan Sarkin Yamma, Jada.

The suspects are alleged to have killed and beheaded the victim, identified as Abdalla Lawali of Anguwar Dubai, Jada.

The victim was reported missing on 7 March 2025, prompting an extensive search by the community and law enforcement agencies.

“Upon receiving information on the suspects’ involvement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, deployed security personnel to the scene, where the decomposed body of the deceased was recovered in a sack bag,” Nguroje stated.

He added that a search warrant was executed at the suspects’ residence, leading to the discovery of the victim’s head buried in a shallow grave within the house premises.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, expressing regret and attributing their actions to “the devil.”

The Commissioner of Police condemned the barbaric act and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

CP Morris assured the public that justice would be served and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant.

“We call on members of the public to report any suspicious movements around their neighbourhood to the police,” he said.

The arrest has brought a measure of relief to the community, which had been gripped by fear and outrage following the disappearance and subsequent discovery of the young boy’s remains.

The case has also highlighted the vulnerability of Almajiri children, who often live in precarious conditions and are at risk of exploitation and violence.

The Adamawa State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating violent crimes and ensuring the safety of all residents.

As the investigation continues, authorities have vowed to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice for Abdalla Lawali and his grieving family.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court following the conclusion of the investigation.
