A 10-year-old boy with his accomplice, a 48-year old man were arrested by policemen attached to the Iwofe Divisional Police Headquarters on Monday, July 28, 2014 for witchcraft activities.
Residents of Iwofe, Rumuolumeni inIwofe in Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State were in complete shock and fear when the said boy transformed into a cat to attack a family in the community.
According to one of the residents, the cat had entered the room out of nowhere in the night while the occupants were still awake and during the process of chasing the cat out, it changed into a boy.
When this happened, the occupants of the room started screaming which attracted the attention of their neighbors who came to their rescue.
The source also disclosed that the boy had pleaded with his captors not to kill him, saying he was sent by a 48-year-old man said to attack the family.
When contacted, a senior police officer at the Iwofe Divisional Police Headquarters confirmed that two people had been arrested for witchcraft acts.
He said, “Actually, two people have been arrested in connection to witchcraft activity.”
But he refused to give further information on the issue, insisting that it is only the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, that was in a better position to do so.
However, the Rivers Police Command spokesperson , ASP Grace Koko, said she was yet to be briefed on the matter.
